The cleanest air in Andalucia
No city in Andalucia with more than 100.000 inhabitants has as clean air as Marbella.
This was the result 2018 from a research conducted by the Junta de Andalucía regional authority and presented by the municipality of innovation council Baldomero. The reason to the clean air is Marbella’s favorable location by the sea as well as the many trees found in the municipality.
The study shows that the air is the best in all of Andalusia among densely populated areas, thanks to the high concentration of ozone. Marbella is only surpassed by Seville in terms of limited emissions of sulfur.
This is not the first time that the healthy environment in Marbella has been demonstrated. According to a 2015 study by the World Health Organization, Marbella was reported to have the cleanest air of all densely populated areas of the Iberian Peninsula. In another ranking produced by the EU Environment Council, Marbella also place first as the city in Spain with the highest amount of green areas and also placed second in all of Europe.
